I really love make up. I live for Mac and won't wear any other foundation but Make Up Forever. I'm like a kid at Christmas when I find a new product that I love. I recently came across a brand I had never heard of before....Ben Nye. I'm not a make up professional so I'm not always up on all the new make up trends and brands, but thanks to Pinterest I have been awakened!
Several months ago, I came across this pin on Pinterest and I was intrigued. The reviews talked about how Ben Nye's Final Seal was used by DisneyWorld Princesses. A few spritzes on your face, sets make up impeccably and it lasts for hours. The intense sun and humidity that the Disney ladies are under, supposedly this does the trick and their make up really lasts. Now as a native Arizona, our summers get HOT and more often than not, it feels like our make up is melting off on some days. I saved the pin, wondered if it worked and planned to check it out later. Since then, I've read countless reviews on Final Seal, Mac's finishing spray and may other brands that people swear by. After contemplating which brand I was going to give a try, I decided to try Ben Nye's Final Seal. It's the cheapest of them all and seemed to receive the best reviews. And after all, if it's good enough for a Princess, it must do the job, right? But where to find Ben Nye? The product is so inexpensive that that shipping would cost as much as the product. But I lucked out and found that a local costume shop sells the brand. Apparently this line is heavily used by theaters and so for $5 I picked it up. I can tell you I would have spent at least 5x that amount at Mac!
The review? Well the true test will come this July...but I have given it 2 days and I have to say I definitely feel it keeps the oil at bay and leaves a great crisp coverage that seems to last longer during the entire day. I'm sold and can't wait to give it a try in hot weather! This may just be what I need in our Arizona heat!
So starting with this product, it sparked my interest. I started reading a ton of great reviews on many additional Ben Nye products. After several reviews and You Tube videos, I was officially obsessed with Ben Nye and obtaining two additional products.
I am pretty much content with my make up routine, but one thing that really bugs me and something I haven't found an answer for is oil control and a truly finished powdered look that is long lasting. I'll do my make up in the morning and by the time I do my hair, get dressed and head out, my T-zone is a hot oil mess and my Mac blotting powder has to come out to help. A few hours later, more blotting powder is needed. Several reviews I read about a Ben Nye powder that seemed to solve this problem. Neutral Set - Colorless Face Powder. Thankfully the costume shop also carried, so it saved me the shipping charge and I couldn't wait to try it out.
First off, the bottle is huge. So big I think it might last me an entire lifetime. And it only cost me $13! So cheap, but everything I read says the quality of the powder is amazing and so blends wonderfully. When I went to make the purchase, looking at the WHITE powder, I was concerned, but the salesperson swore that it is in fact colorless and that I wouldn't look like a clown. After my second day, I love love love the way my make up looks and I barely haveto use my blotting powder. I think I may have found a great solution and I could not be happier with the results! This product will always reside in my make up drawer from here on out. It provides a great finished look. This review helps explain the product better.
So now for the most coveted Ben Nye product. As I got into my Ben Nye research, I learned one thing. Kim Kardashian is a fan. And while I have a love/hate relationship with Kimmy, I will say that her make up is flawless and always looks amazing. Yes, Yes, Yes, I know with her money and her professional make up artists, I too could look that impeccable, but supposedly, she gave an interview about a product that she uses and apparently it has sparked a worldwide sell out of it and it's in hot demand. I've really gotten into highlighting and have been using what I thought was a great product from Mac. But after seeing You Tube videos and blogs specifically on Ben Nye's Banana powder, I had to get my hands on a bottle to try it myself. The costume shop was sold out and wasn't sure when they would be getting another round in. Many sites I came across was sold out, but I ended up finding it here and ordered it for only $10...shipping was $10 :-(.
I literally tracked my order for days, hoping it would come early. I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. After day 1 of trying it, I have to say, the reviews were right. This powder is something else. It is very fine, blends lovely and provides a flawless finish. I used it as a highlighter, but a review I saw said you can blend it with the Neutral Set Finishing Powder to give your skin a natural all over glow. I think I'll give that a try too.
I dare you to google it...read about Banana Powder. Watch a few You Tube videos! For the price point, it's truly a great product! Ben Nye thank you and welcome to my make up drawer!
| The powder is yellow and frightening, but give it a chance, I loved the results It blends in nicely. |
